About Me

Wanda Johnson – Solution Specialist. Single Mom. Teacher. Entrepreneur.

Wanda has always been curious. As a natural-born problem solver and teacher, her transition into her line of work as a Virtual Assistant– “Solution Specialist” -- was seamless. As she narrowed her focus to helping entrepreneurs and small businesses owners strategize, organize, and streamline their to-do lists and business processes, she knew she had found her calling.

Throughout her life, Wanda has always searched for the next way to challenge herself, whether that be expanding professionally, or putting herself in situations to prompt her personal growth. Originally from Rockford, IL, she spent most of her life in Memphis, TN. Then in 2008, she decided it was time for a change.  She pulled out a map and picked a place. She had chosen Cedar Rapids, Iowa, completely at random, to call her new home. 3 years later, she launched her business, with the birth of her beautiful daughter Mai (Ma-ee) to follow less than a month after. Life quickly picked up the pace and hasn’t slowed since.

A few years into successfully running her business, she again sought to expand her expertise and create more opportunities for herself.  In 2012, she decided that adding a part-time Continuing Education Facilitator position at Kirkwood Community College would be a perfect way to fulfill her passion for educating others and now teaches several of her own original courses. After just two years after joining the American Business Women Association Cedar Rapids Charter Chapter (ABWACRCC) that same year she took the position of President and was awarded Woman of the Year.  She became involved in the Parent Teacher’s Organization (PTO) at her daughter’s elementary school and served as President for the 2020-2021 school year. She is a part of her daughter’s Girl Scouts troop and is an active member of her church.

Along her business journey, her role as owner and Solution Specialist for At Your Service Corridor Community has become more specialized and defined. Wanda found that technology-based solutions flowed easily from her and shifted her services to focus more on helping tackle the transition into the cloud-based world we live in today. She is continuing to take a wide approach to her business ventures, launching a blog in February 2022, and plans to launch a coaching business and a virtual assistant group by April 2022.

Wanda takes immense pride in her African American heritage and works closely with the organization, The Academy for Scholastic and Personal Success here in Cedar Rapids by helping take care of myriad administrative and adjunct tasks. In May 2022, she is being a guest speaker on North Liberty Library’s podcast, ‘Love, Light, and Lit’ to showcase her many “First and Only” achievements, including:

  • “First & Only” African American PTO President (2020-2021)
